The Best Central Coast Engagement Photoshoot Locations

Central Coast Engagement Photoshoot

Congrats! You’re Engaged! But now you have to figure out where to do your Central Coast Engagement Photoshoot…

We’ve got your back! As Central Coast wedding photographers, we’ve spent years exploring San Luis Obispo and the surrounding areas. We’ve chosen our top 4 favorite locations to capture engagement photos:

  1. Montaña de Oro
  2. Morro Bay
  3. Prefumo Canyon
  4. Los Osos Oaks State Reserve

See some of our favorite shots from these locations below!

1. Montaña de Oro

Montaña de Oro State Park is one of the most versatile locations for a photoshoot! It has so many options for magical backdrops, including Eucalyptus groves, bluff trails with wildflowers, and beaches. We absolutely LOVE the way the light hits the Eucalyptus grove during golden hour, like in the photos below!

The cliffs and beaches in MDO are stunning as well. In just a short drive from the Eucalyptus groves, you have access to cliffside views of the Pacific Ocean and beautiful rocky beaches. Montaña de Oro is the perfect engagement shoot location for the adventurous and outdoorsy couple!

2. Morro Bay

Morro Rock is ICONIC to the Central Coast. Like Montaña de Oro, this spot is so versatile! We love capturing photos up in the sand dunes, where couples are secluded from the crowds down on the beach!

As the sun sets and the crowds clear out, we love to capture a few shots of our couples down by the water. If the tide is low, the reflection of Morro Rock perfectly frames you too!

3. Prefumo Canyon

Prefumo Canyon is an incredible option for engagement photos, especially because of its proximity to San Luis Obispo! In about a 20 minute drive up Prefumo Canyon Road, you have epic views of 360° rolling hills.

4. Los Osos Oaks State Natural Reserve

This spot is one of our faves on days when it’s just SO SUNNY. The way the light peeks through the trees is stunning, and it’s a great place to start your engagement shoot when the sun is still higher in the sky.
